After graduation, Hollis Thompson will be packing his bags and moving clear across the country to start his college basketball career.  Thompson, a Los Angeles native committed to Georgetown University; making his decision to become a Hoya back in November.  His commitment to Georgetown has marked the fourth consecutive year the program has had at least one five star prospect in its recruiting class.

As a junior Thompson averaged 19 points per game in addition to 11 rebounds and 3 assists for Loyola High School.  Thompson was a prospect high on most recruiter’s lists, but eventually chose Georgetown over USC, UCLA and Duke.  His athleticism and diverse skill set made him a perfect match for Georgetown’s offense.  The same offense that played a major factor in the small forward’s decision to become a Hoya.

"One thing I really like about Coach John Thompson is he doesn't recruit positions, he recruits players," Thompson told Rivals. "I like their offense with the motions and cutting, and lenience and flexibility. I am not going there to play one definite position; I'll have a chance to play the 'one' through the 'four.'”

Thompson’s ability to play several positions helped Belmont Shore to the quarterfinals of the GBOA West tournament in early May and has given them a potential shot at earning a Wild Card bid for the Challenge of Champions, which takes place in Chicago in August.
