With so much competition in the summer basketball season, it is easy for some talented players to slip under the radar. For the 2008 summer, one player you won’t want to sleep on is junior Gary Franklin. Keep an eye out for combo-guard Franklin and his California Supreme team.

The 6’1 guard plays high school ball for the super-talented Mater Dei, which boasts a roster every year full of all-stars and prized prospects. Though he may have been playing in the shadow of the highly regarded Wear twins and several other talented teammates including fellow GBOA player Andy Brown, Franklin sure did fill up the stat sheet for the 35-1 Monarchs. Franklin, who plays a solid all around game, averaged 13 points while grabbing 3 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists and swiping 2 assists per game.

His ability to play both guard positions and skill hasn’t gone unnoticed by college coaches however, Franklin is being recruited by Baylor, Arizona and UConn, according to reports from Rivals.com.  Franklin looks to lead his California Supreme team to a title in the very tough West Region, while raising recruiters' interest in his own play.  With so much opportunity and potential, the 2008 summer will no doubt be an important one for Franklin.
