If you’re looking for the top player in the country for the class of 2009, look no further than D-One Sports’ John Wall.  The 6’4’’ point guard had been ranked at the top of his position for most of the year but was recently honored with the top spot in the class overall, beating out Derrick Favors and Renardo Sidney as the previous top ranked players.

Wall’s summer hoops team D-One Sports has been a prime stepping stone to help him reach this ranking.  D-One Hoops plays a difficult schedule, with match ups against many of the top teams in every tournament they participate.  The GBOA South tournament will not offer them any breaks either.  D-One Sports will compete in a field that includes top teams Boo Williams, Team Breakdown, Atlanta Celtics and Georgia Stars.  Wall will also face some tough match ups of his own while going against other top ranked point guards including Kenny Boynton (Team Breakdown), Lorenzo Brown(Worldwide Renegades), Mfon Udofia (Worldwide Renegades).

Wall says he won’t let his ranking get in the way of the goals he has for his team and improving on his own skills.  The top ranked player told Rivals.com, "I am the No. 1 point guard and No. 1 in the nation, people are coming after me, so I got to keep working hard and try to get ready for them. I still have to work hard and stay humble and hungry because I still have to play hard if I want to go further in basketball."
