Player Spotlight: Solomon Hill (California Supreme)

Solomon Hill has seen a major increase in his recruitment over the spring period; most of this can be attributed to his outstanding play for his summer hoops team California Supreme.  Hill, a 6’5’’ small forward from Los Angeles, played high school basketball along side fellow GBOA star Renardo Sidney at Fairfax High School.  At Fairfax the junior averaged 11 points and 9 rebounds a game and helped the Lions to a 11-1 league record and a 27-6 record overall.

Hill knows that his successful junior season at Fairfax combined with his play  this spring for California Supreme has widened his recruiting and helped to gain the interest of many coaches.  Hill told Rivals DePaul, Oregon, USC and Texas among many others have been in contact with him.  Though he wouldn’t be opposed to staying close to home, location and distance won’t factor in much to his decision.

"It would be good to be on the west coast if I thought it was a good fit but other than that it really is not that important," Hill told Rivals. The most important issue for him right now is that he commits to a place where he feels he can contribute immediately, "I want to go to a school where I will play right away," he said. "The reason is that you play games against tough people and you get experience and are able to improve faster if you start playing right away."

Hill was one of the main factors in California Supreme’s success at the GBOA West tournament at USC.  Along with teammates Jeremy Tyler, Justin Cobbs and Gary Franklin, Hill helped lead Supreme to a 3-1 record, falling to the eventual regional champion, Branch West.  Supreme’s strong play that weekend has them in contention for a possible Wild Card bid to GBOA’s Challenge of Champions in Chicago this August.
