Spotlight: Double Pump's Anthony Stover |
|
Anthony Stover may have slipped under the radar in the past but the start of the 2008 summer basketball season will have many eyes following the 6’9 junior. Stover recently got a chance to represent the United States in the Albert Schweitzer tournament in Germany. Stover told Rivals.com he had a great experience and learned a lot from the European style play. He also expects this to help him improve his overall game and create more of a name for himself.
"It's going to help me a lot because they played really tough out there. There were few fouls called,” Stover told Rivals. “Every time you'd go up for a dunk, someone was grabbing you by your waist and bringing you down. You had to learn how to play stronger. That's my goal this spring and summer, just to play harder and stronger.”
Stover averaged a double double for his Renaissance Academy team as a junior, scoring 13 points and pulling down 11 boards per game. The big man is also looking to catch the eye of some college programs on the East coast in addition to those already interested in the West. Stover says Stanford currently stands out and after visiting the school during the season feels like they may be a front runner though he isn’t ruling any teams out.
