| Martin Brothers Season Preview |
|
The Martin Brothers, out of Iowa, has had quite a bit of success over the years. Traditionally the Martin Brothers have been the basketball powerhouse in the state of Iowa, and they are looking for success at this year’s tournament in Chicago. The Martin Brothers will be participating in the GBOA North Tournament on May 10-11, led by 6-foot-7 forward Malcom Moore from Iowa City High. According to Coach Huddleson, “Everyone would like him to be a couple inches taller, but he is kind of in the Brunner type mold, as someone who works hard and is going to beat you up on the block and rebound the ball” (reported by rivals.com). Moore showcases some impressive footwork on the court and will be an exciting player to watch. Moore will be joined by Hal Bateman from Davenport Central. Bateman is full of potential, with an off-the-charts vertical. Also on the Martin Brothers are guards Mitch Marquis and Tom Norton. Marquis is receiving interest from several Texas schools and Tom Norton has received an early offer from the Citadel. Rounding off the roster Nate Hutcheson and Zach Bohannon, both teammates from Linn Mar, are both outstanding athletes receiving a lot of college interest. Hutcheson has an offer from Albany and Bohannon is receiving interest from a number of Ivy League schools. The Martin Brothers are obviously showcasing some great athletes, but the most impressive thing is how well the players work as a team. The Martin Brothers have a great shot at taking the GBOA North Tournament this year. |
