Wow, what a week this has been! I’m really thankful for everyone who contributed to Upside Down Feminism Week, as well as all of y’all who read, commented, and shared.
This week, we’ve had over 1,200 visitors, which is absolutely wonderful! Cultivating a better understanding of feminism was the entire point of this past week & judging by the stats, I’d like to think that the goal was furthered, even if it just got people discussing or thinking about gender equality a little more than before.
To catch up on any post you might have missed:
- Finding My Space, Rachel Lesler
- What is Rape Culture?, Devin White
- Feminism & Theology, Michael Sterns
- Feminism: Show, Don’t Tell, Jessilyn Justice
- Sporadic Thoughts of a…Feminist?, Kelly Cox
- Abortion & Motherhood: Feminism’s Choice?, Lerryn Kidd
As always, I want my blog to open for all writers–if you ever want to submit a piece about feminism or another issue to share, please do! I love sharing different perspectives and voices (I get very tired of my own.) Email me at [email protected] & we’ll figure something out!
And as for feminism and gender equality, I believe that change can and will happen. Women aren’t alone in suffering though–for both men and women, there exists so many gender expectations, stigmas, and prejudices existing and perpetuated throughout our culture (which, yes, includes the media). We must stop saying “yes” to these expectations. We are not victims to the capricious whims of culture. We can be over-comers.
To quote an unlikely source, Dr. Seuss, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
Women AND men must get rid of the apathy and negativity surrounding gender equality–once we do so, we can truly begin to work for symbiotic justice for women and men.
